For the love of Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Vintage Motorbikes and all those Classic American Cars, – our inspiration.
We’re a New Zealand workwear brand created in a shed on a drawing desk right next door to a 27t Ford Roadster. We live it, breathe it and are part of the Hot Rodding culture in NZ. We’re also designers with over 20 years of apparel, graphic design, illustration and advertising experience.
We started Oildale™ because we wanted quality clothes in a vintage style, to wear in the shed that wouldn’t scratch the car’s we were working on. We want to provide something that wont change season after season. We like favorite T-shirts and favorite jeans and we want to keep it that way. While we’ll always add new styles, your faves will always be available. We’re a start-up and as time goes on, we plan to bring you more garments and new designs. We have a long way to go and this is just the beginning. Fasten your seatbelts, we’re in for one heck of a ride!
DEFLECT AND PROTECT™
Our products are made from ethically sourced 100% cotton. What makes it so tough and hard wearing – the fabric is coated in Evershield®. DOR-treated fabrics repel not only water, but also some hydrocarbon-based and low surface tension liquids like: oils, food products, mud, concrete, ice, and others. This helps fabrics deflect these elements, which protects both the fabric and what’s underneath. Additionally, since the repellent is created with C6 chemistry with no VOCs, it has a smaller environmental impact over time. For more information on Evershield® go to www.evershield.com
While our garments come from China, they’re made in a NZ owned factory (the only apparel factory with a B rating - the highest grade given by Tear Fund, see the Ethical Fashion Report for details). This factory pays a living wage to its workers. Our products are all packaged in recycled cardboard. True sustainability is using materials from renewable sources and recycling in a way that does not harm the environment.
Us hot rodders are so good at that, we’ve been recycling cars since the 1920s.
